In this gripping biographical sports drama film, we are taken on a journey through the life and career of one of cricket's greatest heroes - Mahendra Singh (MS) Dhoni.

Directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni in an unforgettable performance, M.S. Dhony: The Untold Story chronicles the highs and lows faced by the former Indian captain from his humble beginnings to achieving unimaginable success on the international stage.

The film begins with a young MS Dhoni (played by Dhiraj Balakrishnan) growing up in Ranchi's Jharkhand state. With an unyielding passion for cricket, he dreams of one day becoming a professional cricketer like his idols - Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar.

However, despite his talent and dedication on the field, MS Dhoni faces numerous obstacles both within himself as well as outside forces trying to derail his dream. His father (played by Anupam Kumer) disapproves of cricket being a career option due to its unpredictable nature while coaches like Banjo Dada (played by Abhishek Bachchan), who discovers him at an early age, struggle to bring out the best in this talented but temperamental young cricketer.

As MS Dhony navigates through his formative years playing for various local teams and eventually getting selected into the Bihar state team under a coach named Man Singh (played by Naveen Kaushal), he begins to find himself. It is during these crucial moments that some pivotal figures enter his life - people who would play an instrumental role in shaping him not just as a cricketer but also as a person.

Among them are his first love Preeti Desai (played by Shazahan Padussery) and later, his long-time partner Sakshi Singh Rawat (played with grace and elegance by Kiara Advani). Both women bring stability into MS Dhony's life while encouraging him to pursue his dreams without any hesitation.

But success never comes easy. After being dropped from the Bihar team twice due to poor performances, a heartbroken MS Dhoni is forced back home where he takes up multiple jobs just to make ends meet - working as an attendant at a petrol pump among other menial tasks that humiliate him beyond recognition.

However, this darkest of times also proves to be his turning point. Determined more than ever to prove himself once again on the cricket field, MS Dhoni decides to give one last shot at realizing his dream by joining East Bengal FC under their coach - Subrata Ganguly (played by Biswajit Chatterjee).

Under his guidance and mentorship, along with some hard work put in by himself, MS Dhony finally starts getting noticed again. He earns a call-up into the Indian 'A' team soon after which leads to him being selected for the senior side under legendary captain - Kapil Dev (played by Bhaavya Mendu).

From there on outwards, it's nothing but sheer magic as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story takes us through MS Dhony's incredible journey from a small-town cricketer from Ranchi to becoming one of the greatest captains in international cricket history - leading India to their second ICC World Cup title under his leadership.

With outstanding performances by its entire cast, including Sushant Singh Rajput who completely immerses himself into the role of MS Dhoni so much so that it becomes difficult at times not to see him as the real deal; coupled with some breathtaking action sequences and emotionally charged moments throughout its runtime, M.S. Dhony: The Untold Story is a must-watch for all cricket fans out there who love underdog stories.
